October 31, 1997
Vigil of All Hallows

Dear Devoted Catholic,

Thanks to the support of Catholics such as yourself and Eleanor Tenor, the Immaculate Conception Chapter of CUF for many years fought well to defend our Catholic Faith through the CUF newsletter and monthly lectures by orthodox priests and laity. Our most popular event by far was the annual CUF dinner, at which we honored outstanding Catholic laymen who defended the Faith with extraordinary courage, by the annual acknowledgement of a particular Catholic Layman of the Year.

Having no one to carry the battle standard since Eleanor Tenor retired, our chapter has, for eighteen months, slumbered while the battle rages on. Yet never before has the Church so needed CUF's courageous voice of truth in the wilderness of confusion, blatant heresy, and sacrilege in which we live today.

Let us awaken and rebuild CUF. Let CUF's voice once again be heard in defense of that Church which was founded by the Son of God and is ruled vicariously by Him through His pope. Join us on the Vigil of the Solemnity of our Patroness, the Immaculate Conception, for the annual CUF dinner.

We will honor Steven Brady, founder of the group Roman Catholic Faithful, as Catholic Layman of the Year. Mr. Brady's national lay organization is openly confronting dissenters within the ecclesial bureaucracy in many American dioceses and his efforts have been noted in Rome. Along with Dr. Thomas Droleskey, pro-life hero Joe Schiedler, and Dr. William Marra, Mr. Brady has organized a prayer vigil and conference, coincident with the November 10-12 meeting of the NCCB in Washington, D.C., to remind our shepherds that the Faith must be defended against attacks from within as well as from without the Church. It will be most interesting to hear of these activities in Washington and the reactions of various bishops.

Join us also to hear our featured speaker, Father George Parker, now with Human Life International. Father Parker was removed from his parish by his bishop because he rejected pro-abortion Sen. Chris Dodd's blood money contribution to his parish.

Join us to renew old friendships or to make new ones, friendships based in love for our Lord. Join us to be re-invigorated, to be re-energized, that each of us may live as a militant soldier of Christ. Join us at the banquet hall of the Memorare Council of the Knights of Columbus at 6 PM on Sunday, December 7th.

Sincerely,

Kieran J. McGuire

P.S.

Eleanor plans to attend the dinner. This may also be a fitting time to thank her for her many years of service and courage in defending the Faith.
